Job Purpose:
Reporting to Client Managers, this position involves working in the Audit and Business Services team with the provision of appropriate training in accounts preparation, audit and to a more limited extent tax, with a view to obtaining the relevant professional experience and becoming a fully qualified chartered accountant.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
Trainees will deal primarily with owner managed businesses including sole traders, companies and partnerships. Services include accounts prep, management accounts, personal and corporation tax computations, VAT and providing advice to these clients about their personal and business matters.
- Client record processing
- Bookkeeping
- VAT returns and checking
- Management accounts preparation
- Accounts and Financial statements
- Personal and corporation tax computations and returns (once tax papers have been sat)
- Assisting with and on audits both in but primarily out of the office using a computerised audit system
- Producing audit files for review
- Achieving or exceeding assignment budgeted fees
- Answering telephone calls and dealing with basic client queries and /or enquiries (internal and external clients) about personal and business matters
- Developing strong working relationships with colleagues, clients and relevant authorities
- Working as part of a team
- Providing general assistance to the audit and business services team
- Raise awareness of other WK services, including Financial Services, and highlight possible cross or up selling opportunities
- Admin and other adhoc tasks as required
Skills required:
- Achieved at least a grade B in both Mathematics and English Language GSCE (or equivalent)
- Successfully studied to A Level (or equivalent) achieving a minimum of 300 UCAS points at A2 level*
