Why did you choose Azets?
Azets is a global company with local offices, meaning there is the ability to work anywhere in the UK. I started my career in Azets in the Guisborough office and have since transferred to Wynyard through an internal opportunity. This flexibility allows me to work in any office as well as at home when I need to. Azets is a friendly company whose values align well with my own.
What experience have you gained at Azets?
Over my time with the company so far, I have been exposed to a range of different areas of accounting. My day-to-day activities include VAT returns, bookkeeping, Statutory accounts for limited companies, partnership and sole trade accounts and occasionally audit work. As we have a vast range of clients in varying sectors, I have the opportunity to work on niche clients, developing my skill set even more.
What type of training have you had?
I am currently studying AAT as an apprentice. Azets has provided me the opportunity to study flexibly through and On Demand study program through Kaplan. Regular support and check-ins from my manager allow me to excel in my studies as I am supported in everything I do. I am also Xero Certified; thanks to a course I was put through when I started. Azets have also provided me with further training on various software packages through partnerships with Dext and Xero. This allows me to provide our clients with in-depth training and support using their software. Furthermore, I am a Certified Mental Health First Aider, which was facilitated by Azets, so I can now offer support and information to my peers who need it.
How do you rate the work/life balance?
I would say I have a healthy work/life balance. The flexible working hours allow me to work around my personal life. Furthermore, I am part of a Social Committee in my office that organises social events for everyone to find that work/life balance. For example, we organised a litter pick up on the Business Park where our office is situated on June 8th for Plastic Pick Up day. This got people away from their desks for at lunch time and allowed them to mingle with their colleagues whilst helping the environment.
What’s your favourite thing about your job?
My favourite thing about my job is my colleagues. I work with such an amazing team across the Northeast who support me in everything I do. My job has allowed me to meet new people who have all taught me so much already. I have developed life-long friendships in this office that make me love coming to work every day.
