Financial services firm EY will be resuming its role as Comic relief’s official accountant for the 14th consecutive year.
As honorary accountant, EY count all UK public postal donations for free to ensure Comic Relief keep their Golden Pound pledge: that every penny raised goes to good causes. Over 50 EY staff will donate over 4,500 of their time between them to process around 35,000 cheques.
In addition to counting the cash, EY staff across the UK will also be taking part in fundraising activities. Having raised £100,000 last year, the firm will be looking to smash their record today with fancy dress, quiz nights, flash dancing and sponsored silliness, together with a serious commitment to raising money to help people transform their lives for the better.
John Cooney, an EY tax partner, will be coordinating the firm’s number crunchers. He said: ‘We really value this fun day, but we also have a huge year-round responsibility to provide the accounting support Comic Relief relies on.’
